The cruise was not bad...the ship WAS bad. It is old and dirty and shows in many ways. I wrote the cabin review below so I will skip most of that. This ship is not kept up like it should be. I have sailed on other Carnival ships and was not as disgusted as this one made me. First of all, I had kind of heard it was a Party Boat...and yes... it certainly is. I have never seen more drunk and rowdy people on a ship before! Maybe it was because there were more 30's and up and less kids in early Nov....but I doubt it. Those that do have kids let them run wild wherever and dominate the pools and whirlpools until late at night (of course not all). The Lido deck is chaotic and loud most of the time...with two bars and two eateries that are on both sides, getting into the buffet can be a real challenge...especially during the mornings and day when all kind of contests and dancing is going on....had to squeeze through mazes of people regularly. Food is OK on the buffet but not great. The omlet station is a challenge..I think they hire their slowest cooks for that. I waited 20 minutes and more not to have to eat those famous powdered scrambled eggs on the buffet. Thank goodness they served the bacon to you...otherwise it would be like waiting for the sharks to feed before you got any...not that the bacon is that good...but it is bacon. I just kind of got tired of hearing " give me more bacon...more bacon! The coffee on the buffet sucks... they send the best ships to China and Australia. The Legend had special coffee machines installed with excellent coffee....for Australia. Glad we got to at least try it first,
The salads were good except potato salad. They used the same flavored rice for every rice dish except white rice...just plopped some shrimp or whatever to "change it up" ...still tasted like boxed mexican rice mix from the store no matter what they did to it. No real hash browns or good breakfast potatoes...always using frozen potato patties or leftover baked potato. Who needs roasted or rosmary potatoes with their eggs? The veggie dishes were blah I guess they never heard of seasoning on ship kitchens.
The ship had weird smells about it but the worst was a sewer gas like smell in many inside areas of the ship...around the shops, atrium, hallways, and in the bathrooms. Others have said this too.

Ocean Suite
Cabin was smaller than normal ocean suites.... carpet dirty, old, dated. Mirrors and surfaces dusty.had to request something to clean them with before a steward came in and wiped them with a towel (no cleaning stuff used at all)...still dusty after they wiped. Bathroom tub base on outside very rusty and had bits of mold growing on it. Bathroom smelled at times like sewer gas or something...nasty. I asked the steward for a foam pad or egg crate for my back....I have lung cancer and need more padding. She claimed they had no such thing on the ship ....funny, I have had pads put on the bed the last 4 or 5 cruises with no problem. I had to hurt the whole trip ...Thanks for cutting out yet more stuff Carnival. All in all, the cabin was very noisy at night especially, between the loud music coming up from the atrium and the loud drunks in the halllways. I would not book on Carnival Conquest again...ever.
