The ship was so noisy at night even with sleeping pills and ear plugs we couldn't sleep. We complained and were told no other rooms were available. The noise subsided some on day 3 but then vibrations of the room and bed started. The last night we were getting a good night sleep until they tested the engines . We came into dock at 10pm saturday night for some engine maintenance, not on Sunday morning. By coming into port early the casino shut down early at 6pm on Saturday night and we were charged tax on all food and beverages because of being in port.

We were also disappointed in the amount of recreation activities available. The golf cages had only left handed clubs for the first 2 days. There were 2 ping pong tables, but one was located in the childrens area next to a water slide. The other table was outside on a deck but it was so windy there, it was hard to play. There was shuffleboard but only 2 places to play on totally different levels of the ship.

The food was just all right. There was lots of smoking in the casino and we couldn't stay very long since we are nonsmokers. The smoke smell filtered down the hallway to Gatsby's lounge where we enjoyed listening to music. There was very little shopping on board. We did like the free style dining ,and the entertainment we saw int the Stardust Theater was very good. Our overall experience we felt was not good enough for us to recommend this Ship or to ever take another cruise on the Norwegian Star.
