I read lots of reviews prior to cruising on the Majesty of the Seas. I rolled my eyes at the bad ones as I have always enjoyed my cruises that people complained about. I thought bad reviews always had to do with bad attitudes and unreasonably high expectations. This was NOT the case with this ship. It really was that bad!

Our inside stateroom was very tiny and the boat was a little rundown. These are things that I was expecting based on the age of the ship and the relatively cheap cost of the cruise. I didn't factor these things into my rating. It was a bit annoying that things in the room didn't work right (sometimes my husband's room key didn't work, and the room safe would often decide to not open).

The food was terrible! Based on my past experiences, I didn't think that major cruise lines had bad food. I thought that people who complained about cruise food were overly picky. I now see that the food can be AWFUL! The Windjammer had the same terrible, cafeteria-quality food every day. I ate Froot Loops for breakfast and pizza for lunch most days (two things I would never have believed I would eat on a cruise!). The dining room was a little bit better, but still sub-par. I have a real sweet tooth, and I didn't really like any of the desserts, either. There is an additional charge for lobster and steak in the main dining room. There was no corkage fee for wine, though, which was nice.

Cabin K

The cabin was about what I expected. It was very small, but for 2 people it was okay. There was a bed that pulled out of the wall meaning it could sleep 3, but that would not have been pleasant at all. There was not much storage. Like I said in the review, I was disappointed that things didn't always work (door keys, safe). The bed wasn't particularly comfortable and the pillows were very flat. Being at the very front of the ship, we heard the anchor every day which my husband thought was cool...but this might bother some.

Port Reviews

Miami

We didn't actually do anything in Miami, but it is a pretty city with a nice skyline as you sail away.

Key West

It's a fun place to see, but I think it's all about the night life (and we left at 5pm).
