This was our 7th cruise with Carnival - second on the Imagination. We were traveling with 24 family members, celebrating 3 anniversaries. The service was as always, excellent, as was the entertainment. The food was fair. The excursions were wonderful...para-sailed, tour of Catalina and the winery tour in Ensenada. Because we always sail with 10 or more of our family members, we like to have contiguous balconies or suites so that we can open the partitions between the balconies and enjoy our time together as a family outside of public areas. Not only do the partitions not open because of the coves...even the balcony partitions contained in the coves have been welded shut. This is not the case on most Carnival ships, as the matter of fact, this is the first time we have run into this disappointing situation.

The inability to have the balconies opened between staterooms really negatively affected our cruise.

The up side to all of this is that we were in suites and had "Faster to the Fun" so we were able to check in in the captains lounge away from the crowds and our rooms were available as soon as we got on board. We had our luggage with us so we were unpacked and at the bar by 11:30am.
