Just returned from a 2 week "back to back" cruise on Mariner of the Seas around asia and I cannot stress enough how disappointing the whole experience was. My wife and I have cruised with RCCL every year for the previous 6 years (all different ships) so am aware of the usual standards onboard. To say that the standards on this cruise had "slipped" would be an understatement.

The food in the main dining rooms was quite simply poor, both in quality, presentation and selection. Whilst we appreciate we were on an Asian cruise itinery this should not equate to having to have white "sticky" rice with just about every main meal, most times it being cold or luke warm at best to add further insult. It became apparent that in order to get an "acceptable" meal you had to mix and match from the available selections which proved a head ache for the staff who generally tried there best to accomodate. it did get to the stage whereby guests were preferring to use the buffet restaurant in preference to main dining something which I have never noticed before such was the poor quality etc.

The overall service on the ship was also at times atrocious with many staff appearing as though they "did not want to be there" and so on many occaisions reluctant or indifferent to provide any decent level of service, again something which we have never experienced before.

Superior Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D3

excellent service provided by joe.(zhou), proving that service levels can be achieved if there is the will to do so. If only RCCL employed more like him.
