Background;

This was our 11 cruise on Carnival. I am 67 years old and my wife is 55. Kids all grown up. It was just the two of us. We were on the Valor about 5 weeks ago and while on that cruise received a "free cruise" offer from the Players Club. When I got back home there were a number of good choices available including an 8 day and a 5 day during News Years. I waffled and went back in the next morning and most of the choices were gone except for 4 & 5 days out of Tampa, Orlando, Fort Lauderdale or Miami. Since we live in Tampa which has the older Paradise, decided to book the Sunshine since it has all the new upgrades. The Valor which we were previously on, doe not have any.

Booked an Interior cabin (which was free, there were low but additional charges for an outside or balcony). Never had an interior room before.

Cabin Review

Interior

Cabin 4C

Booked #3110 on the third deck. Was close to the Atrium and on the same side which smoking was allowed on deck. Booked a room as forward as possible since the deck plan had a door on to the deck. This forward door was an emergency exit. Doors to the third deck were In the Atrium area.

Lets talk about the cabin since I did a lot of research on what to expect and not expect. The cabin was suppose to have 185sf which is the same as a Balcony cabin (which we always had on prior cruises). Cabin appeared small. King size bed but no sofa or coffee table, one chair, limited counter space but three large closets. We have a refrigerator which many reports I read saying there did not exist on this ship. The frig is not stocked (that's OK) but no Ice Bucket. We finally got two but were the unlid type you get from the bar when you purchased 4 beers. With no insulation or lid. The ice was melted within 3 to 4 hours. We have a great housekeeping staff who kept them full. I have to say "Francisco" and his staff (Rebecca) were very good, must have seen him at least 3 times a day in the hallway. Unusual from our recent Carnival Cruises

Bathroom was the same as on previous ships, feet did not go into the shower. Plenty of room between the toilet and bathroom counter. Shower was located next to my right shoulder. (Again this is for an Interior, heard from guests this was not always the case in some balcony rooms. Same goes for the micro refrig)

Bed was very comfortable and got use to have no window. On last item, nice flat screen TV but it was nit "interactive". Could not look up our folios or to check out the dinner menu.

Key West

Been here many times. Like Duval. Easy walk to and from the ship

Freeport

Nice little port right off the ship. It was real hot on our port day. Back on board within 90 minutes
