We have cruised with Norwegian several times in Alaska, Caribbean, and Europe. All of them as a Haven guest. We are fun loving people who like to dance, explore, and enjoy the people around us. We had high expectations as our experiences aboard the Epic was excellent. However, this we very disappointing. The boarding, the shows, the dancing, the food, and the haven experience are fully reviewed below. Bottom line - This feels more like a floating mall with food quality falling purposely to push the customers to all the additional paid restaurants. The service is suffering because it is obviously understaffed. Everything is focused on shutting down the night life after 11:00.
1. The Haven boarding experience was disastrous. Typically they greet you, you have refreshments and they walk you to your cabin. There was nobody to greet us to explain the process, then we stood in line in the haven area with no refreshments for over an hour, they did not have our keys ready, the guests in the haven waiting area were all extremely upset, some people who waited over 2 hours, people checking in through the regular lines got on much faster. While this is a new ship, the process is the same for the Norwegian cruise lines.
2. The Shows: Boring. Our reviews below.
The cabin was nice for a penthouse. However, the ship shook like crazy during the docking process. It was so loud and it went on for 30 mins. Don't plan on sleeping late during on shore of the final day. The shower is great except the water temperature was opposite (Red was colder and Blue was hotter). The Toilet flushing mechanism had to be pressed several times before it would work. When you sit on it, it sounded like it was coming off the wall.
We stayed at the Edition Hotel - It was great
