We had wanted to Cruise Europe for a few years and the opportunity arose for us to get a few weeks in a row to take 2 cruises with NCL. We were originally supposed to go a week earlier then the dates we ended up going as NCL had the Epic in dry dock and the ship was delayed so our itinerary was changed by NCL (we received a whopping $25 additional on board credit for this change done by them). Instead of seeing the Baltic coast as we had planned we ended up doing the Greek Islands from Venice Italy (amazing place to see) instead followed by our main goal which was the Mediterranean cruise of Italy, France and Spain. We found Santorini Greece to be amazing but the rest of Greece was less then inspiring. On the other hand we found Italy to be off the hook!! We started our 2nd cruise in Barcelona Spain which is a great city with amazing sites to see and so much food and wine its hard to choose what to do first. Our first stop in Italy was Naples where we took a city tour and ended up finding a hole in the wall pizza restaurant where we each got a huge slice of pizza, a bottle of Chianti (for 2.15 euros) and a Grand riserva Peronini beer all for 10 euros! great city very pretty. Our next stop was Florence where took an excursion "Rome on your own" and we took the hop on hop off bus around the city for the day a very nice tour and tons of site seeing. The last stop in Italy was Livorna where you can choose to visit Florence, Pisa or do as we did which was take a wine tour of Tuscany through the ship. We found this tour to be the best we have ever taken through NCl the wine was amazing, the views from the winery were beyond our wildest imagination and the wines were paired to local foods making for an unbelievable experience which we will definitely come back for in the very near future! The last 2 stops were Cannes France and Palma Majorca Spain both very beautiful cities with allot to offer we took a tour to another winery in Spain but after the experience in Tuscany it did not compare but was still very interesting to see. We have cruised 7 times in the past 3 years with NCl and find their ships to be very comfortable normally but I do have to say we found the ship the first week (the Jade) to be great and we found the Epic to be way to large and crowded but still very nice. In the future we will make every attempt to stay on the smaller ships if possible but as always NCL's staff aboard both ships was beyond our expectations and treated us both exceptionally well. We would recommend NCl to anyone looking for an experience you will never forget!! We will be back soon to relive our Italian experience for sure and we will look for anything that leaves from Barcelona for sure.
