The first day we boarded the ship, we had our carryon luggage with us. They made us carry our luggage up a flight of 28 metal steps to the 6th floor, instead of allowing us the short ramp to the 4th floor just a few yards away. They are extremely disorganized on boarding and debarkation protocol. We waited outside the ship in long lines ahead of us to go through security every time we came on board the ship. One time we waited for 20 minutes in the rain. Parents were trying to cover their babies from the rain. This is unacceptable. On debarkation for the tours, the passengers were told to exit the ship. They did not have anyone from the crew directing passengers to the exit. Passengers were going to the 6th floor, to the 5th floor and to the 4th floor looking for the exit.

The main auditorium where they perform the shows is in dire need of remodeling. It is extremely uncomfortable to sit to watch the shows. It is so small that they have to do 3 shows per night to accommodate the people, which is fine. However, the worst part is that they have long sofas with small glass tables in front of them. Then they have chairs on rollers in front of the sofas that are higher than the sofas so, if you sit on the sofas, you cannot see the show for the rolling chairs in front of you and you cannot get through to sit due to the small glass tables blocking the passage way. The shows were like school plays, not professional shows as portrayed on their advertisements.

We learned that they added 40 meters to the middle of the ship to accommodate additional cabins for 600 passengers, but they did not add space to the common areas so everything was crowded. The buffet was always packed and you could walk the ship and not find a table to sit down to eat. We were not aware this was a “hop-on hop-off” ship. People got on board at different ports as the ship went around the itinerary and got off on the same port they embarked. The food and the service on this MSC Armonia was excellent. That was the extent of the positive aspect of this ship.

Cabin Review

Balcony Stateroom

Cabin B2

We have taken well over 50 cruises over the years, but we have never been so disappointed with a ship as with MSC Armonia. When we booked this cruise, we paid to upgrade our cabin to accommodate 3 adult passengers with a sleeper sofa and a balcony. Instead, they gave us an extremely small cabin with a bunk bed for a child that opened over the feet of the bed. In order to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, we had to duck down under the bunk bed to pass through the bottom of the bunk bed to go to the bathroom. There was just enough room around the bed to walk by very tightly. The balcony was so narrow, that we had to put the chairs sideways to be able to fit our knees. We complained and complained to the front desk, but they kept telling us the ship was full and they had no cabins available.
