I have been on 6 or 7 Carnival ships in the past 8 years but this ship is the shabbiest and oldest one I have ever been on. Maintenance crews could be seen everywhere. We had a balcony cabin on deck 8 forward port which was a good location. Just below the Lido deck but under cabins that were up on deck 9. Close to elevators but a long walk to the MDR. As usual, the warm chocolate melting cake was the hit dessert and I always try to have a Guy's Burger a day. Drinks were expensive (nothing new) and the ship's photographers were marginal. We usually buy about $200 in pictures but this time only $60. Could not find a lot of the photos we had taken. When is Carnival going to start using facial recognition software to help us find our photos? Royal Caribbean has been using it for a while and when I went on the Oasis of the Seas in July, all of our photos were in a folder and we had the folder number so we could see all of the photos taken. A real time saver and crowd reliever.

The balcony cabin was small and the bathroom even smaller. Others have mentioned the toilet location that requires you to put one foot in the shower stall to sit squarely on the toilet. Inconvenient and uncomfortable.

Entertainment was small and simple and the theater was small and simple. Everybody liked Jaime D, the cruise director though. She is a nice woman and can be seen everywhere. She helped make this cruise more enjoyable for us.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin 8B

The balcony cabin was small and the bathroom even smaller. Others have mentioned the toilet location that requires you to put one foot in the shower stall to sit squarely on the toilet. Inconvenient and uncomfortable. There is no refrigerator and the closet space is adequate. Plenty of room to hide your empty suitcases under the beds. We asked for a bucket of ice and got exactly that. It was a plastic bucket used to dole out multiple bottles of beer up on the Lido deck on in a bar. Had only ice though and a towel underneath to soak up the sweat from the ice bucket. Poor!!! Bed was OK and pillows were adequate.

Port Reviews

Port Canaveral (Orlando)

Close to park and sail hotels and off premises parking (much cheaper). Port Canaveral is growing and traffic is messy at times.

St. Maarten

Make sure to check the airport and Sunset Bar and Grill at the end of the runway. Watch the crazies and drink Carib...

St. Kitts (Port Zante)

Guide very verbose and knew a lot about the island and history. Only $15 pp and lasted about 2 1/2 hours.

Grand Turk

Really nothing to do there...
