I checked in online with RC. Assuming everything was good my husband and I went to the airport to fly to Singapore only to be told that my husband could not fly to Singapore with me as he only had 5 months and 2 weeks left on his passport and he needed 6. I was very surprised that I was not informed of this when checking in. It seems incomprehensible that a company as big as Royal Caribbean did not pick up on this. A big thank you to Emirates who were very helpful contacting the passport office and arranging new flights for my husband, I flew out to Singapore alone and when I arrived at the hotel was told that work was being carried out on the floor where my room was. No, work was being carried out right next to my room. As my luggage was left at Dubai airport due to the flight being delayed I arrived with no luggage, The receptionist told me she would send up toothbrush and paste, she also told me that she would find me another room but it would not be until later in the day. None of these things happened, The next AFTERNOON I was asked if I wanted to change rooms I declined as I was leaving the next morning,

On boarding the Mariner of the Seas I was impressed with the ship and stateroom. However, standards were not at all what I expected. RC had been recommended to be by several friends and as the cruise progressed I thought that they had been joking!!! I talked to several passengers who said they had enjoyed marvellous cruises with RC but this was not one of them!. I feel that the cruise was misrepresented, neither myself or many others were aware of the distances to our destination from where the ship docked. As far as I was concerned I was visiting Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City not spending my Life on buses to get there. Whilst the service in the dining room was excellent (many thanks to Romeo and Philip) and we were extremely fortunate to be seated on a table of 10 with absolutely wonderful dining companions, the food was poor. Do RC really expect people to pay extra for a run of the mill steak which is offered by other cruise lines at no extra cost. The choice of food was very limited and often fish was overcooked. In the Windjammer there was not a great deal of choice and it was clear that the Asian customers were being catered for( I would like to say that having shared tables with them on many occasions I found then absolutely delightful) I do not object to their tastes being catered for but RC should remember that everyone is a paying customer and therefore deserves the same treatment. My husband and I had the drinks package which included non alcoholic cocktails. On every occasions bar one I was offered fruit punch, on the one occasion I was offered something else it was a Red Bull with some juice added, The Ice shows were good but the rest was very amateurish. I feel truly disappointed about the cruise. Thank goodness Emirates offered such good service and that the Hyatt Regency in Dubai was outstanding meaning at least a wonderful end to an otherwise mediocre holiday.
