EMBARKATION Arrived at approximately Noon at the pier. Very little traffic and plenty of assistance available for luggage transfers. There were no lines whatsoever at the security checkpoints or at the "check in" counters. Celebrity had plenty of staff working to make this process as seamless as possible. We were on the ship by 12:15 and dining by 12:20. One of the absolute smoothest embarkations I can remember. Announcements were made at the usual 1 p.m. alerting us to cabin availability. It was a beautiful sunny day, so the majority of us were on deck enjoying our port day.

CABIN We had reserved a guarantee balcony cabin and were assigned 8159 approximately 1 month prior to sailing (kept checking the online reservation status to find this information). The cabin was spotless and I am happy to report that the furnishings looked as new as two years ago when we last sailed the Century. The interior designers on the Century did a tremendous job of making the cabins feel spacious, warm, and modern. The shower curtain rods had been switched to the "wide load" versions...otherwise no changes. My personal favorites are the flat screen TV, and the vessel sink in the bathrooms. Classy! My one and only complaint is the pillow quality. The cabin pillows have no loft whatsoever, and being a side sleeper it just did not work. Thankfully our cabin steward Domingo was able to secure two temper-pedic pillows that did the trick. Would love to see Celebrity upgrade their mattresses like HAL did, but the beds were certainly not uncomfortable. Unlike Princess that has only cheesy plastic chairs on the balcony, Celebrity had two very comfortable chairs and a large dining table on our balcony.

SMOKING POLICY I personally have to rave over the new non-smoking policy on most areas of the ship. I know this HAD to be difficult for smokers, but being able to sit on my balcony without clouds of cigarette and cigar smoke ruining the sea air was quite amazing. It was obvious that several smokers decided to ignore the ban and smoke in their cabins anyways...clearly obvious when walking down the hallway. I'm certain this will be a transition period, but am happy to see Celebrity moving in the right direction on this.
