Outdated, Small, and Boring

I won this 3 day, 2 night cruise while on vacation in Las Vegas last year - so I can't complain too much because it was "free."

First off, I should've known it was going to be outdated because the website barely functions.

When we arrived at the Port of Palm Beach we were immediately shocked at how small the cruise ship was. We had never been on a cruise before but I watch Royal Caribbean ships sail by my office all the time and the difference in size was very noticeable.

Once we got on the ship we noticed just how outdated everything was. All the décor looked like it was straight from the 60s. Exploring the ship also confirmed that it was extremely tiny. The pools were so tiny that I thought they were hot tubs at first. The only good thing was that the cruise was empty so it felt like we had the whole boat to ourselves.

The cabins were ok. Completely bare and boring, but clean enough. Again everything just seemed very old, even the keys, which were plastic cards with holes in it.

We had boarded early anticipating lines like the lady on the phone said, but there were no lines and we found ourselves very bored on the boat within a few hours. There is NOTHING to do on this ship besides drink, go to the casino and play corn hole. We bought the drink coupon package for $65 and I'm not sure if it was rip off or not. Absolutely everything is extra on the boat. For a "free" cruise we ended up paying almost $400 on extra fees - drinks, excursions, shows, gratuities, gas etc. It is literally impossible not to rack up charges on this boat.

We did sign up for the snorkeling excursion and it was AWESOME! I highly recommend doing that if you are going on this cruise. We also decided to stay a few days in the Bahamas at the Grand Luyacan resort, which was nice. The downside was going back on the cruise ship. Although it was organized, no one could give you an answer if you wanted to stray from the plan. We wanted to spend the day at the beach in the Bahamas (like all the day trippers do!), but our bus back was scheduled at 11:00 a.m. When we asked to catch a later bus no one would give us a straight answer. It was terrible.

The food was pretty good each day on the boat. Dinner was portioned correctly for a 5 course meal - even if you ate all 5 courses, you didn't feel like it was TOO much food. The buffet was very average. Nothing special there. We aren't big buffet people though.

As mentioned before, the only thing to do on the boat was going to the casino or play corn hole. We got very good at playing corn hole. So good that my boyfriend actually won the corn hole competition that they had on the second day. We were super excited to get $50 on board credit! It was going to go right towards alcohol - until we read the fine print. The credit could not be used at the bar. What else would you use that money on?! We asked the front desk and they told us the spa and the gift shop. That was so disappointing. I'm not one to buy crap at a gift shop so we ended up going to the spa. I got a basic manicure and my boyfriend got a much needed haircut. Our experience at the spa was pretty good. Friendly staff and good service.

Overall, it was an ok experience. We would certainly not pay to go on this cruise, but for a "free" trip we can't complain too much. My advise: pick a different cruise line if you want to have a relaxing, luxurious vacation - a little extra money upfront will probably save you a ton in the long run.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

We originally signed up for the Sail and Snorkel trip. We were asked while registering if we would be willing to just snorkel if they couldn't get enough people for the sailing trip, we said yes. At first we were extremely disappointed that not enough people signed up for the sail and snorkel, but once we got to the place they told us that we were actually going out on the sail boat because it was such a small group! That turned the whole trip around. We sailed out to the reef and had about an hour and a half to snorkel around. The captain and instructor were amazing. The fish were beautiful and so close! It rained while we were out there but we felt it made the trip that much more exciting. I highly recommend.
