My husband and I took an incredible first cruise from Basal, Switzerland to Amsterdam on the Viking Sun. It was a first class experience from the minute we stepped on to the ship until the morning that we left. Each included excursion was lead by knowledgable and personable guides. The extra excursion we chose was through a winter palace and hunting lodge and was equally well done. We can't praise all of the staff enough to do them justice. The captain was as friendly as all of his crew. We realize we were very lucky to have spectacular weather, but nothing will ever replace our memory of our morning of cruising past the castles on the Rhine. Thank you, Viking. We look forward to our next journey with you!

Cabin Review

Deluxe Stateroom with Large Window

Cabin C

Great room but stern cabins were a bit noisier due to closeness of engines.

Port Reviews

Strasbourg

The bus ride into the city was an interesting tour. The walk through the city with an introduction to the Custom House and the Strasbourg Cathedral was very informative. The cathedral was lovely. We enjoyed the free time to explore the nearby town of Kehl with its gardens in full bloom.

Heidelberg

Heidelberg was a high light of our tours. It was charming and historically interesting. The castle was a first for us. Our guide was connected to the university, so he was particularly knowledgable.

Basel

We had very little time to explore due to flight delays. In the future, we would know enough to add on time at both the beginning and end of the cruise.
