First of all - I have not been on a cruise since Summer 2012 - so some of the things that seemed new or different to me - may be old hat to you. For example, no chocolates on the pillows at night - I guess that has been going on for some time now - but it was the first time for me!

We're Carnival fans and have been on 8 cruises - so we tend to like the product and that is reflected in our review. I'll focus on the things I noticed because they were different from before - you may or may not find the differences important.

Embarkation- We got an email saying our embarkation time was 1230 to 130. We got there at 1200 because that is when the hotel shuttle dropped us off. No one ever asked about our time - and I could see no evidence that anyone paid any attention to this. I do not think it matters at all. It took about an hour to get through and onto the ship. We did not do the Faster to the Fun thing - we did see the line for that and it was shorter.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin 8E

This was a typical Carnival balcony cabin. Plenty of storage. Only one electrical outlet though *(except for the one in the bathroom for shavers) - so if you need more than one outlet bring a power strip. I've read this in other reviews but forgot to do it, Great location - on the 7th deck so cabins above and below you - no restaurants, clubs, gyms, etc. to hear. Also only steps away from the aft stairwell so very convenient to go down for all the activities or up to the Lido for the pool and the buffet.

Cabin steward was great and kept everything in top shape - and always seemed to know when the best time to come was because we rarely saw him except passing him in the halls. We had service morning and night - there was no option to only have one service that I have read about.

Port Reviews

San Juan

We just walked around the forts and the town because we weren't there long. But it was very interesting.

St. Maarten

Discussed in the main review. Not much in Phillipsburg itself in my opinion.

Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

Discussed earlier. Embarkation took about an hour.
