Cabin: Family Balcony Stateroom

We had an absolute blast. We received the ultimate specialty dining package. We were also part of the casino players club which gave us complimentary drinks from the first day. We were in a balcony cabin which was offered, as an upgrade for only $150pp, from an interior cabin, just two days before the cruise. This was a phenomenal value. The only drawback was that with only 2 days notice, the stewards and some other departments did not get our updated room location so we received invitations and paperwork for others, in our cabin. Some of our stuff was delayed (NOT our bags). The food selection, availability and quality were all phenomenal! The cruise staff was very accommodating but only average when comparing to other cruises with and without NCL. We had some issues but I believe they were exceptions to the norm. Gambling on the ship is difficult, if you pay attention to gaming odds, due to the stringent rules and techniques (e.g. continuous shuffle for games under $100 minimum, $2 chips for roulette, etc.) We did the Baths in Virgin Gorda from Tortola, on our own. It saved us about $30 to $40 per person. If you use "Speedy's" ferry, it is a quick walk from the pier. Once you get to Virgin Gorda, they will provide you with a shuttle to the baths. I do not recommend the baths UNLESS you are interested in hiking. The tide was too high so we could not go in the water unless we wanted to get bashed up against some of the huge stones. It was gorgeous to see but we kept thinking there was more so we hiked, through all the stones, over to Devil's Bay where we could swim a little, then had to hike through another trail, all the way back to start of the baths. It was a good workout but we had to leave our flip flops behind so we did it all barefoot. I HIGHLY recommend aqua shoes for this journey. Flip flops and other shoes will not work. The flea market in St. Thomas had the best selection for faux designer purses as well as the most willing to negotiate ($30 for a large Michael Kors bag). We did Atlantis and the Fish Fry in Nassau - it was okay. The vendors and flea markets are very open to bargaining, in Nassau - NEVER TAKE THE FIRST PRICE! ENJOY!!!

Family Balcony Stateroom

Cabin B2

Well worth a $150pp fee to upgrade from Interior. We were around the middle of the ship, forward elevators, which put us far from restaurants but close to the kids activity center (same floor), spa and theater. The balcony is small but very nice to have.

Port Reviews

St. Thomas

We walked to the shopping district. It was uneventful but there were good deals in the flea market if you are looking for those types of items.

Miami

Embarkation was not bad although if you were not staying in the Haven, there was no priority boarding, even if they tell you there is. Disembarkation took forever so be prepared to wait. We usually pay a porter to walk us through but we didn't even have that option this time.

We used Safe Cruise Parking, the least expensive around. They were okay for getting us to the port although a little slow. When we got back, we waited a half hour for the shuttle, our phone calls were not answered so we just took a taxi back to the lot which was $20, including tip.
