This was a family vacation to celebrate our daughter's 40th birthday (and mine which is on the same day). She had not been to any of the ports in the Med, so this was a great choice for us.
First of all I just want to say that we love this ship....the layout was wonderful, would be great for a Transatlantic as a matter of fact. Unusual decor owing to its Asian origin, very classic looking. Although it is an older ship, everything was clean, kept well, and the ship and crew functioned well, no problems.
Embarkation in Barcelona was problematic due to the staff on land, not the NCL staff, just slow and creaky. Once aboard things were super smooth. Concierge Omar is the best, better even than Carlos! Butler Seka perfect mixture of friendly but not too, and super helpful....knew and anticipated our needs and habits after the first two days. Steward Algene very quiet, very efficient, made the best towel animals. Food good in the MDR, Cagney's was excellent, efficient room service, great suite experience as usual. Buffet is good for lunch, mediocre for dinner. Shows were nearly all awful, really bad.
Our first time in front and we were a little concerned about the wind, but not to worry we were fine. Yes it was windy when the ship was moving, but it mostly sailed at night. Plenty of room for 3 with 1 1/2 bathrooms, plenty of storage (contrary to reports!), two balconies. Only thing lacking was a curtain between the large bathroom and the bedroom to give a little privacy. Beautiful well kept decor, loved it!
Took a long walk, were there on a national holiday, so it was lively.
Hired a driver to take us to the Vatican for the day, bought tickets ahead of time. Wonderful day there.
Did a private tour, wonderful city, wish we had more time!
Private tour to Ephesus, most beautiful city ruins in Europe.
Stayed here three days post cruise in Canareggio, far from the big tourist crowds.
