Scratch underneath the "gimmicky" plush exterior and this is a cruise ship and cruise liner with some fundamental flaws.
It is a plush cruise ship with some great entertainment options and technological advances but it becomes very thinly spread when the ship packs in over 4000 passengers all wanting to get the opportunity to take a ride in the north star, skydive or put on some roller skates in the seaplex.
However, the main problem appears to centre around the ships staffing. As a seasoned cruiser with other cruise lines we were expecting decent service but this was not the case because of such a lack of staff. It was practically impossible to get any waiter service in the bars. In three nights we only spotted three waiters on the ship in a couple of the bar areas. We did not see any in the two show areas. The only way to get a drink in the main bars area was to queue with a 10-30 minute wait. Being cynical it appeared more than a coincidence that RCL heavily plugged the drinks packages then conveniently made if difficult to get value out of this. We did joke about the fact that it was quicker and easier to get a drink from the bionic waiters even though they were offline half the time and spilt half your drink they were making!
We had two adjoining cabins that were spacious enough, modern, clean with plenty of hanging space. The one cabin staff allocated to this area of the ship did her best to provide a level of service you would expect. However, please note they don't offer a turn down service as other cruise liners do and fail to tell you that room service is not available (despite the breakfast card being hung on the door for 12 hours) on the last day when you are trying to avoid the impossible task of getting a table for breakfast.
