Cabin: Obstructed Oceanview

This was a girls' trip, booked mainly because I tripped across a great deal almost a year ago. We booked an obstructed oceanview room (8082), which was even better than I anticipated. It was a sideways cabin, so it was much roomier than the regular oceanview room, and while the lifeboat was fully centered in front of the window, the plexiglass doors on the lifeboat were what lined up as our view. So we could see everything, just through two plexiglass doors. The ship is due for drydock in the Spring, but it was well-maintained, and had no obvious issues. Activities were plentiful on sea days, but a little lighter on port days than I would prefer. We had one excursion booked, the Bermuda Triangle night cruise, but it was canceled due to the high winds that day. Everything we did in Bermuda was independent, and with three days in port it was no problem to handle everything ourselves. Our first day we stayed mainly around the king's wharf area. On Monday we spent the day in Hamilton, taking the ferry there and back. Tuesday we did some last minute shopping in the morning, and squeezed in afternoon tea at the Dockyard Pastry shop before we left. The tea was particularly wonderful, and reasonably priced. I'd highly recommend doing it there if you have an interest. Service on the ship was outstanding, as I always find it to be on Norwegian in general. It's rare that we saw a crew member without a smile, and I can actually only think of one from this sailing. Boston was a very easy port overall. Arrival was a bit backed up to dropoff luggage and get to the parking lot, but their disembarkation was the smoothest I've ever seen. Truly, I didn't rush and I was in my car by 8:50am. Overall, this is a great itinerary on a great ship, and I'd highly recommend it for anybody.

Cabin Review

Obstructed Oceanview

Cabin OK

This was a great cabin for most people. The room is more spacious than a typical oceanview, and the window lines up directly with the lifeboat doors, which are made of plexiglass, so you can see right through to the other side. It's in it's own section of hallway, so you can easily find it even if you aren't paying attention. The only potential negative would be if you are very sensitive to sound. The hotel closet is right next door, and because it's the only room in that hallway they tend to use it to keep all the carts and everything when they are cleaning. Noise basically stops around 10pm, but since the bed is right next to the hallway wall, you do hear people walking by if they are speaking at all loudly. For us it worked great, and I would book it again in a heartbeat.
