We had a great time aboard the Norwegian Pearl as she voyaged through the Western Caribbean. Unfortunately I had a mishap the night before the trip and was not able to do shore excursions in Roatan or Cozumel.
First, we flew into Fort Lauderdale Airport - what a great airport. There are very few amenities but everyone is very nice, efficient and professional - a great improvement over our Miami airport experience last year. We picked up a rental car at Hertz - the process is very efficient, Hertz, however, not so much - they were incredibly understaffed and I was actually worried a fistfight was going to break out in the express lane. In the end they messed up our reservation so bad they gave us a $50 credit and the only car left was a shiny yellow Corvette so we were pretty happy.
We stayed at the Crowne Plaza Saturday night in Sunrise, Florida (which is really Fort Lauderdale). Fantastic hotel - two thumbs up for sure. We also got a good deal and then were upgraded when we go there so that was even better.
Great balcony; middle of the ship; bit of a longer walk to elevators; missed having shelves by the balcony; need a power strip; could sleep four people if two people were small and you don't need your own space. Soap is lavendar scented.
