First time on the Paradise and we weren't disappointed!
Our first encounter with the crew was at the Guest Services desk where we were helped by Caesar. We had not been able to get cash before boarding and didn't know our PIN #'s for our CCs. Caesar noticed that we had paid for our concert tix and a massage with a CC when making our reservations and he said he was able to refund that to us in cash. So, first impressions go a long way with us, they got a plus.
The weather wasn't so hot for the first 3 days, but we kept entertained onboard. We spent some time in the Casino at night, cruised the Promenade and met some folks, and ate, "alot"!!!
Food was very good, but there has been a change. On the shorter cruises, less than 7 days, they no longer serve lobster tails. Not a huge thing, but just pointing it out. We also noticed that Creme Brulee' wasn't on the menu either, but that created a new opportunity for us to be wowed. Although we chose "anytime" dining, our server, Torcado, was so impressive the first night, we continued to ask for him nightly. On the last night, before we could even order dessert, he brought us Creme Brulee'... just for us.... I was officially impressed.
We were celebrating our 30th anniversary and I bought a very nice tux and a drop dead gorgeous evening gown for elegant night. I was very disappointed in the quality of the photos that were taken, the blacks were so black that you could see no details on my tux and many pics my DW and I blended in together, looking like siamese twins. We took pics with 3 different backgrounds, but none were worth buying. Very disappointing; they have $3000 camera and lens packages and shoot on auto....geez....
Carnival Live with Heart was the highlight of our cruise. The meet and greet was disappointing, rushed and just a pic and run; Nancy Heart had her eyes closed, you'd at least think they'd pop off two or three pics.... The concert was great though, the venue is perfect for a concert. We were second row and blown away by the performance of Heart.
Not a whole lot to say about Grand Caymen, as it was raining. We did get down to Tiki Beach, on 7-mile beach (on our own) and did some snorkeling, which was good.
In Cozumel, the sun finally made a showing; we took a cab to Sky Reef, again, on our own. We had to tell the man that we had our own gear and would buy some beverages, but didn't want to pay the $50 he wanted for cover. He complied and we grabbed some seats on the beach. Snorkeling was good, plenty of fish, coral formations, and plant life.
All in all, it was a good experience, our cabin was great, food was great, entertainment and crew were wonderful. We'd run this cruise again, for sure.
Paid for an interior class and got this porthole room. The size was great, had our bed made into a king. More than enough room for us and our things. Being up front will get you a little more motion, but for us, it just makes good sleeping. No complaints, great room.
