First of all, I have Platinum status on Carnival Cruise line. I am a seasoned cruiser. Embarkation was ok for Priority boarding. We arrived around 10:30 am and were allowed to check in earlier than 1:30pm. We were instructed we could go to our room and then have lunch. Our room was not ready. We headed up to the Lido deck for lunch and stayed there until 1:30pm. Dining was in the Monet's Backside of dinning room. Waiters were Nicar ,Daniel and Jenny seemed to enjoy serving us. As far as activities, I attended the Punchliner Comedy Club enjoyed Just June's routine of Moms Mabley and Tina Turner. was great. The whole Casino area on the back end of deck five filled with smoke from smokers. The activities were very limited. The deck party was not up to my previous expectations. The cruise director Wee Jimmy was terrible. Not sure how he got his job. I heard a lot of complaints about him. What happened to the samples normally in the bathroom. I attended the past guest party which is for Platinum and Diamond guests. My fellow cruisers could not attend the party even though they are past guests. They have not reached Platinum status. The activities were limited to selling services. No more traditional Captain's Ball, just a receiving line of officers. I have more of a celebration at past guest party. The Guy's Burger Joint was great. I attended the Variety show with the ventriloquist (Mason). He was good. All in all the ship was kept cleaned. The debarkation process sucked. Once you got your luggage, there was this long line for Customs. That process needs to be revised. What made my cruise enjoyable, was the group I was with. We had lots of fun laughing. We made our own fun. The seaside movies were great and action packed. I saw two movies after late dinner.
The cabin was average. Once the bathroom was cleaned the toliet always reeked of urine. The balcony was cleaned during a sea day. However, the balcony could have used some touch-up painting.
Just flew in and out.
Loved the Beach area and Margaritaville
Took a bus trip downtown. I had been warned. I went anyway.Everyone had tables set up in a park downtown begging you to come see their table. This turned me off from the Dominican Republic. The few vendors that were in the port were good.
Curacao was the Best Port. We spend time there at night relaxing listening to locals music. We took the ferry and went across the pier where the downtown area was. The locals were really nice. We went off the beaten tourist path. Everything went well.
We walked around downtown and explored Aruba. We got adventurous and took a rountrip Bus ride for $4.00 and explored the beautiful beach.
