My husband and I joined some friends and we planned this River Cruise through Viking. A week before setting sail, we called several times to check on the possibility of having to change ships due to the Danube being too low to navigate. (other friends had taken the trip 3 weeks prior to us and they had to change ships). Once we boarded, we asked again and no one seemed to know. As it turned out, we did have to change ships midway of the cruise. If we had only known about it ahead of time, our unpacking would have been greatly affected. The staff handled the transition as best as they could and the bus trip wasn't horrible...but again, not expected. The Tor staff was noticeably more attentive to the passengers. They knew many of us by our names, and treated us exceptional. The one morning we were sailing through the cliffs, many passengers were up on deck enjoying the beautiful sights. My friend and I went downstairs to get some breakfast and the crew took care of everything. They brought our plates, coffee, juice, and utensils all up so we could remain outside enjoying the sites. To us, that we going above and beyond the call of duty.

Our cabin steward was very detailed in his/her attentions. It seemed like once we left the room, they came in quickly and prepared our room for the day. We never saw him/her, but knew we were well being taken care.

We truly enjoyed our shore excursions, some disappointments though. We had signed up for The Narrows tour but found out at the last minute it was cancelled. The other choice that we really wanted to do was the BMW factory tour, but it was filled. That day, we weren't able to do anything as there was nothing else to do....that was very disappointing for sure. I do know many people wanted to do the BMW tour since the other was cancelled, but they weren't willing to take another group.

Veranda Stateroom

Cabin B

My husband and I paid extra for the balcony outside our room. We would truly rethink that extra cost as we sailed most evenings and once the ship was docked, we parked next to other ships that we already docked and our only view was into the other ship. It was a high price to pay for the rare views.

The shower door had a broken piece on the bottom of the door and that allowed the water to go all over the bathroom floor. We told the staff and they explained to us they had ordered the parts but they had not come in yet. They gave us more towels so that we could place on the floor to soak up the water.

Port Reviews

Budapest

The tour was excellent, the tour guide was a little monotoned but she did give us great information and showed up some fantastic areas of Budapest.

Regensburg

We took our own walking tour and loved seeing the city.

Nuremberg

The tour guide was fantastic but we were not able to stay very long at the Documentation Center. Everyone would have enjoyed being there longer as there was so much to see and read.
