This is our second cruise on Freedom and we had a great time. The ship was re-furbished this year, however I didn't notice any changes except for the addition of Sabor restaurant. The ship was very clean and the service I received was always excellent.
This was a Eastern cruise and do to the storm passing near the Bahamas we had to skip the port of Coco cay. People were upset and stated the waters were calm enough for us to go, however I am not sure if they were following the captains updates on the TV. The boat had a slight rocking motion within the first 2 hours of leaving Orlando and the captain stated the stabilizers were in use. They continued to use the stabilizers the next day which was suppose to be our first stop, Coco Cay. Since tenders were needed to get passengers to Coco cay the captain made the right call to bypass this port. It was for the safety of the passengers. Imagine being on one of the small tenders in choppy waters. What if the tender could not get passengers back to the ship due to rough waters. Freedom is a 160 ton ship that had to utilize stabilizers so that passengers did not experience swaying motion. Tenders do not have stabilizers and they are very small compared to the Freedom. The captain made the right decision.
The food was as expected. It was good. The dining room food was served hot and timely. Our wait staff bent over backwards to make each evening pleasant. We had the 5:30 seating. We also ate at Sabor and the food and service was great. We ate in the windjammer twice. Once for lunch and once for a snack. The food was fine and enough selections to choose from. Although some of the selections are the same daily, there is still other options. If you go to IHOP for breakfast they serve pancakes, eggs, bacon etc everyday also, so I don't understand why people complain about the windjammer having the same food each morning. It's breakfast food!!
Cabin was fabulous. The balcony was huge and had 2 very nice cushioned lounge chairs and a wicker table and chairs for dining.
Nice weather and great shopping.
St. Maarten was nice. Didn't sightsee much due to cloudy weather. Basically shopped.
Embarkation went very smoothly.
