We had a very enjoyable time on the Dawn. We booked the cruise only 5 weeks out and chose a guaranteed inside cabin. We ended up in an ocean view. Drove to Quebec City from Montreal. We had purchased the transfer package to get from the airport to the ship in Quebec and from the ship to the airport in Boston. The transfer process could have been better at both ports. Seems that the outfit handling the transfer from the airport to the ship at Quebec forgot they had to send a bus. One was eventually sent after the NCL agents called multiple times. Then the driver was not sure where he had to go to get to the port. Ended up getting on board around 2:00 pm. Long line going through security at the port but it moved fairly quickly.
The Dawn itself is a very beautiful ship. Very nice public areas. Lots of bright attractive décor. The ports of call were great as were the shore excursions. You never have enough time to do everything you want to do on an excursion but that is typical.
Our cabin was excellent. The cabin steward though seemed to be new to his job and would not see that things like towels, tissues, bath mats were sometimes missing and needed. We had no trouble getting them if we needed them, just had to ask.
Our cabin was spacious with plenty of storage space. The cabin was quiet and nicely decorated . Beds were comfortable. We had an obstructed view but it was better than expected since we booked a guaranteed inside cabin. So a cabin with a bit of wire and part of a lifeboat winch blocking a small part of the window was a big upgrade. Our cabin steward was very friendly but seemed new to his job as he did not notice when things were needed or missing from the bathroom. No problem getting them we just asked. Only one 110v outlet though in the cabin so if you need to charge stuff you have to do it one at a time.
Really interesting and picturesque setting. Learned a lot about Scottish settlement in the area.
Peggy's Cove is truly beautiful. Didn't have enough time there.
Cadillac Mountain is a great spot to see. The view is spectacular. Bar Harbor can be seen way down below in the distance and the cruise ship looks like a small toy in the harbor.
