Let me start by saying that my preference is for the big Royal Caribbean mega-ships. I agreed to this cruise because we got a better price than a comparable cabin on the Independence of the Seas. What Princess does well, we got more of. Where I think Princess falls short, we got more of that, too.
We booked a 7 day eastern Caribbean cruise and got a balcony cabin near the back of the Baja deck. The room itself was nice and the room steward very prompt and friendly. Our room was near the aft elevators and conveniently located both to the food and many of the entertainment venues.
As usual, the personal service we received ranged from very good to excellent. We opted for the early seating traditional dining. Our waitress was excellent, even though it seemed she was a little over-worked; our assistant waiter often disappeared for long stretches of time. The food was very good with a wide variety each night. My only complaint about dinner in the main dining room was that the flourless chocolate cake was only on the menu once!
We stayed in a balcony stateroom. It was a little on the small side, but the balcony was nice. Being near the back of the ship, we didn't get a lot of unwanted traffic, and we were far enough above the promenade area and far enough below the pool deck that we didn't have any unwanted noise. It was only the kids in the cabin across the hall that we heard, and that's no fault of Princess's.
