One of our best cruises ever -- on the most beautiful ship ever [approximately 16/17]. On a maiden season always some little things that need to be 'addressed' for future sailings [gave to Viking in our report]. We chose a Jr. Penthouse Suite State Room - as were celebrating my 80th birthday later this year. Met wonderful people and had two tables of 6 set up in the dining room for this occasion. Restaurant Officers / and entire staff were absolutely fantastic in helping make this a wonderful dinner party--complete with champagne, cake, and 'singing' [in which everyone in the dining room joined]. Had one of the best 'cabin stewardess' we have ever had on our cruises as well. The ship was as well designed as it could have been -- never felt like we were in a crowd. Entertainment was good/dining was excellent [but for one meal]. Shore excursions were good -- some of the local guides were NOT so good; but we were pleased with all our selections of tours [though we had been on a northern European cruise in 2008], we were able to choose different places in most countries and enjoy those countries all over again from a different prospective. Hotel arrangements on the post cruise did NOT meet our expectations -- FAR too much time 'waiting' for our rooms with little or NO help for even a walking tour with the Viking representatives [were not even setting up tours for the next day], so felt that first day was basically 'wasted'. With leaving EARLY the 3rd day - gave us only ONE day in
Stockholm -- with NO 'guided' tour as we have had on the River cruises. SPA was great!! Afternoon Teas were very good.
Fabulous! From the private balcony through the 'Siting Room/ large bedroom / Very large and beautiful Bath we felt very 'pampered' and could actually invite others to visit us.
Decorated VERY well -- 'extras' were greatly appreciated. It really was a Five-Star Floating Hotel"
