This was our trip of a lifetime, and we anticipated the best...we were not disappointed. If we did cruises on a regular basis, perhaps we would have a more informed ability to review (to be critical!!), but the whole experience lived up to our expectations. The cabin was compact but completely functional, and as we did not spend a lot of time there apart from sleeping, there were no issues. The service overall was great, and that was the case in all areas of the ship. We were well catered for with food at all times - by the time we finished, we were glad to be able to experience different types of food, but we didn't tire of the ship food while we were cruising.
Our fellow guests were interesting, and we became friends with a number of them. Our cruise adviser had suggested that there would be more of a mix of people than there actually was - the guests were about 70% USA in origin; but they were very good company. The shore excursions gave us a lot of pleasure, but the guides varied - some were totally exceptional (funny, informed, and with excellent language skills), some were very ordinary (basically the opposite of the exceptional), and the rest were between those two extremes. Fitness and recreation were almost non-existent, but we can't really blame the cruise company for that - high water levels meant that the top deck (which is the primary area for fitness and recreation) had to be closed off for most of the cruise for safety reasons (i.e. there was very little clearance under the bridges). The only criticism is that a significant proportion of the passengers (perhaps 1 in 4) came down with severe gastro, and the crew did not provide any helpful communication about this. Apart from providing a hand sanitiser for each cabin, there was no other action taken; at least, not that I was aware of. Overall, this was a great trip, and I would recommend it to others.
The cabin was small, but adequate for our needs. Ours was set up as two single beds, which we didn't want, but the staff changed the configuration to a double bed in no time at all. The bathroom was compact, but like the cabin overall, we got used to the proportions and there were no issues. The cleaning and room service seemed very good, and it happened without any inconvenience to us (i.e. when we were off doing other things). The internet signal was extremely poor - I don't know if that's what you have to expect in that part of the world, or if the ship was badly set up. We had a balcony, which afforded us a lovely view of the passing scenery - however, we didn't sit out there as much as we had anticipated. The weather was slightly cool for doing that, and the area itself was just a little bit too small. We did like being able to see out of our window to the water and the view beyond.
