If I had to rate the ship experience only, this rating would be much lower. This was our third time on the Dawn and we were disappointed. The lines for the Venetian and the Aqua were long each night. Guests were forced to make dining room reservations in order to dine and get to a show on time. We had to eat in the buffet a couple of nights in order to get to the show. Several nights only one show was offered instead of the usual two. For a sold out ship that meant the theater was completely full and people were forced to stand in the back or leave. Our cruise was actually two 7 day cruises taken back to back, but the itinerary was different each way. Many people opted to book B2B to see all the ports offered. Unfortunately the entertainment offered was duplicated the second week - not acceptable with so many guests booking B2B.

Our worst experience on the ship was the evening we were leaving Quebec City at the start of our second leg. The required lifeboat drill was scheduled at 4:30 PM and the usual dining time in the Venetian was moved to 5:30 PM since it was a gathering place for the drill. When the drill ended and guests were leaving the Venetian other guests were trying to hold their place in line for dinner. It was chaos. I heard numerous complaints and as a Platinum member with NCL we were appalled. It seemed the scheduled running of this ship was completely off kilter. We had never experienced anything like it the past. The Dawn is going in to dry dock for four weeks and I hope more than the ship is overhauled. I really hope this is not occurring on other NCL ships - we like freestyle cruising!!

Cabin Review

Obstructed Oceanview

Cabin OK

The obstruction in this room is minimal. The Dawn is going in for dry dock and I am hoping most of the issues with this room will be taken care of then. The bed was extremely hard. There was water constantly running inside the wall behind the toilet. We couldn't hear it in our room, only in the bathroom. We mentioned it to our room steward twice, but nothing was resolved. I think part of the reason the Dawn is going in for dry dock is plumbing issues. Some other rooms had flooding occur during our cruise. The room was clean and everything worked. The lighting could be better. There was easy access to the elevator and stairs. Once it's overhauled the room would be a good choice.
