We have been lucky enough to have done many cruises with different companies and have twice sailed with Thomsons on the Dream. We had fabulous holidays on both occasions and have always enjoyed cruising with which ever company we have sailed with.....until going on the Spirit

I appreciate she is an old ship but improvements could be made.

We had booked a guaranteed cabin so couldn't complain when it was on deck 1 next to the engines. The bed vibrated all night and you could hear the engine noise. At some point every night we heard a loud whoosh noise beneath us which we think was to do with the stabilisers. The cabin was spotlessly clean, bed comfy and plenty wardrobe space.

Always something to eat but selection not great in buffet restaurant. On the dream staff were happy to do poached eggs but not on the spirit (small niggle I know). Deserts were a big disappointment. Repeated each day and poor quality. Hot crumble and rice dishes really, really sweet. Lumpy custard.

Brandy and max are Thomson spirits greatest asset. Wow. They are just the best. However after they left half way through cruise the team struggled without them. Some shows ok, others dire. Comedian poor. Had heard all the jokes before several times..

All very helpful. Mostly cheerful but must be hard to be smiley every day all day.

The ship.....

At around 4pm each day the entertainment on deck was finished and music played through loud speakers. This music was awful. It was like the "whale music / white noise" that is often played in spas. When we asked the entertainment team about it they agreed it was awful but said that Thomsons had told them to play it and that was that! They said they were trying to creat an ambiance like the sensotorie hotels ! REALLY ? The Thomson spirit is defo not in the sensotorie bracket!!

There is little space on deck to sunbathe where the entertainment is...it is mainly covered with tables and chairs that were very stained (although clean) jiffy cleaner needed I think!!

There was room on the deck above which was all given over to the smokers. So if you enjoy a cigarette then this may be the sruise for you.

Not the best we have ever done but Patmos was beautiful. Definitely recommend i

All in all a disappointing cruise. We had fab weather, met some nice people but have been put off booking with Thomsons again.

Just one other thing.....we have sailed on the new Thomson ship discovery when she was with Royal Caribbean (splendour of the seas) . Nice ship, but interesting that Royal Caribbean invest in new ships while Thomson buy their cast offs ! .......just a thought......
