After paying £4103.98 for a cruise, which incidentally is the most we have paid for a cruise, and this was our 7th and on much superior ships we expected to at least eat decent food. The food on the Thompson Majesty was a travesty. In the 14 days we spent on board we never finished a meal. Food was below standard, always lukewarm, we never once had a hot meal or a hot drink. Dishes included Liver salad!!!!!! Banana crumble which resembled a black sticky mass. Food from previous meals was disguised daily in the buffet restaurants in mayonnaise and salad ingredients. Not once did we see anyone use a temperature probe to check the temp of the food. Certain items that I tried were laced with so much salt it was inedible especially smoked rock fish. Breakfast items i.e. bacon looked grey and swimming in lukewarm fat, eggs looked like rubber blobs again swimming in lukewarm fat. All other breakfast items were lukewarm. Dining rooms never fared much better, food was better presented but still only lukewarm and very disappointing. We as a couple have never wasted so much food.
When we accessed our cabin after having booked 14 months in advance in which we booked a double bed, it was twin beds. We arrived very late at night all we were told was that we had to attend a safety drill. No one directed us where to go or where we could get something to eat. After 4 days in I went to reception to book our cabin for a late stay on the day of departure as again a very late flight, this was completed. We received a letter saying that we could have our cabin until 5pm the next day despite the fact we were booked in for another week. We then find out they had double booked our cabin and then come to ask us to move. After losing my temper they then sorted it out. This is the first time I have ever had to write such a poor review on any holiday I have been on.
The fitness room is a danger, the equipment is substandard and not maintained. At least two of the running machines do not work properly one in particular is dangerous.
OK very dusty especially under the drawer chests
