We planned this cruise for more than a year to celebrate our retirement so we were really looking forward to it. I wish I could rate it better for the sake of the outstanding crew, but it was a bit of a disappointment. Not everything was bad, but the overall cruise was mediocre.

It started at embarkation. We arrived at the port around 11:45 and dropped off our luggage without any problems. Once we entered the terminal it became frustrating. We immediately heard, "Come on folks, move faster. Keep it moving. Why are you going so slow?" This was being directed to everyone in general, not to us specifically, but it was really annoying. They thrust the Canadian declarations form into our hands while rushing us through. How were you supposed to secure it somewhere when you had your boarding pass and carry-on bags in your hands? If you paused to try and slip it into your bag, you were chastised for taking to long to move through security. Just one example of how things went during embarkation.

After all that rushing, we ended up in the embarkation line for almost an hour. The line seemed to creep along so I kept wondering why the big rush to push us through the other area so quickly?

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin 8B

Our cabin was located at the back of the ship and was nice. We had plenty of room for the two of us with adequate storage. The cabin is quiet because there are cabins on both the floor below and the floor above it. The location does mean quite a bit of walking because you must walk the length of the ship when leaving for shore excursions, going to guest services, and watching productions in the theater. It did not bother us, but if walking is an issue something more centrally located would probably be best.

Port Reviews

New York (Manhattan)

Sail away from Manhattan was an amazing experience. From the top deck, you can see the Statue of Liberty, the One World Center, and both the New York and New Jersey skyline. Sailing under the Verrazano Bridge was also fun. It looks like the ship won't clear the bridge, but of course, it does.

Halifax

Were unable to port in Halifax due to poor weather

Saint John (New Brunswick)

Hop On Hop Off gives good overview of the city. We did not use the hopping off option but just rode both loops around the town.
