Sail Date: Sep 2015

We have always enjoyed ourselves on the Azamara line, which is small and friendly. However, this time we noticed that they have significantly downgraded the standard of their restaurants. Firstly, the buffet lunch in Windows used to have an exotic range of salads, i.e. seafood salad etc. Now these have been cut out and replaced with a very mundane selection. In the evening, the Discovery restaurant is offering very little fresh fish, usually only salmon. Also the whole menu is bland and uninspiring, and often turns up cold.

Aqualina used to be our favourite fish restaurant, offering lobster cooked in a variety of ways, a giant stuffed shrimp and a sumptuous dover sole. Now they have changed this restaurant to Italian, and change the menu twice a week. This is because they only offer the dover sole for half the week, instead offering pasta dishes - a joke! It is still our favourite restaurant as the service and decor are better than the other fancy restaurant, Prime C. In the latter, they have good beef and lamb dishes but the decor is gloomy. Again, very little fish is served in any restaurant.

Azamara offer a free selection of wines and drinks, but many drinks need to be paid for. There is no brandy or port on the complimentary list. The cabins are very small, and to get a normal size it is preferable to order a suite. However, The price is high for this line and they need to re-think the amenities they are offering for the money, or I think the loyal clientele will switch to other competitive companies.Certainly we encountered many complaints on this cruise.
