Planned for the last Dawn visit to Canada in October 2015. Sadly the colors just weren't there - another week or two for peak color on the trees. Weather great for all but one of the days. We had an owners suite - outstanding crew, stateroom butler, concierge. Just couldn't ask for a better trip. Dawn is an older NCL ship but they keep it up nicely and the stateroom was as good as any in the fleet.
Speciality restaurants are very good (steak, italian, french, chinese) but not outstanding. Nightly entertainers - singers and dancers put on a good show. There were several other acts that were just average - magician and acrobatics. Only complaint was the tours which were somewhat contrived to support the cruise ships. The only real negative was a tour at our Gaspesie port. After an hour plus bus ride on a school bus (the city leaders clearly make their school bus budget by leasing out their buses for cruise ship tours) we took a coast boat ride. It rained the entire day, water very, very choppy and the tour probably should have been cancelled. We had a few sick folks on the boat. After the boat ride we were given 40 minutes to eat lunch in a very crowded restaurant and then we stood in the rain for almost an hour when our bus failed to return on time. Lots of cold wet tourists that day. All of the guides on the tours were good.
Debarkation was a problem when the ship wasn't allowed to dock at their normal facility in Quebec City. The exit ramp was so steep that wheel chair bound guest had to be carried down the ramp. No one was allowed to carry even their last nights carryon because of the slope of the ramp. Ships crew walked everyone down the ramp and held onto everyone.
Outstanding cabin albeit expensive. Very large and accommodating with an outstanding butler and cabin stewardess. Suite had a bath an shower - very comfortable. No issues with the cabin or service which was excellent.
