This is my first review. I thought I would start to Journal just prior to this cruise. A disclaimer right from the start. The below are my observations, experiences my likes and dislikes about the Viking Passage cruise. A little background first. My wife and I are 4 Star Mariners sailing more than 25 or so times on the Holland America Line. We had a Veranda “A “cabin 5058. We chose open dinning option.
Flight to CPH
We started from our home in Southeastern Massachusetts for our flight to CPH on Iceland Air. I chose this airline mainly because of their low cost economy price for one way travel. The ride to Logan (BOS) was uneventful except for a short delay inside the Tunnel. The computers were down for Iceland check-in and we had to wait about 20 minutes. Once they were up and running the line moved quickly. Getting through TSA went very smoothly and we were at the gate in less than an hour. The plane loaded promptly at the scheduled time for the flight for the 5 hour flight to Reykjavik (REJ) which also arrived as scheduled. We had about 1 ½ hour layover and then a 3 hour flight to CPH. Note: When you arrive in REJ everyone must exit the terminal and re-enter through Passport Control located on the second floor. There are about 5 windows with agents each clearly marked overhead. The line for the most part moves quickly but I would try to get as close to the right side as possible. The reason for this is that the far left side lane not only takes care of regular passenger but the agent also takes care of the passengers with disabilities and this causes the line to come to a halt. Also remember that your connecting flight does not necessarily have a seated waiting area. All gate doors are numbered overhead and a standing line begins right at the door under your gate number. We were then off to CPH which arrived as schedule and on time.
Cabin was adequate. Mini bar was understocked. Stewards were great!
