This was the second RCI ship I have been on since June and the second ship where the food was mediocre at best. Good thing I don't cruise for the food, we cruise for the adventure of new ports and the people we meet.
But many people remember the food and this prompts this review. The buffet food on this cruise was best described as less than mediocre. When two young men that have eaten me out of house and home growing up rather go to the main dining room than the buffet that should tell you something. Even the desserts at time appeared to be below par. Maybe in tough times RCI is cutting back on the food selections but that shouldn't affect taste and variety, should it?
Otherwise, service was exceptional from the staff. The shows I thought were not as entertaining as others. Cleanliness was of high standards in both the cabins and public areas.
Other than the food my only other major criticism is about the port of Galveston. When the line to get to customs upon disembarking crosses in front of the baggage pickup it cause confusion and some chaos. I overheard many first timers to Galveston cruise port saying they would have to think twice about going on another cruise from there.
