Great trip. We used Choice Air for our flight from Seattle to Anchorage, ($99), and rented a car for the drive to Seward, (3 hrs $185). The drive was very scenic, but a little cloudy. We stayed 1 night at the Saeurdough Lodging, basic, but clean and good location.
We had booked a "guaranteed " Sky Suite, but were upgraded to a Royal Suite, (sweet). Check-in took 5 minutes and we were on board by Noon.
We have been on many Celebrity vessels but this was our first time on the Millennium. The ship was clean, the staff were very friendly, and the service top notch. The Royal Suite is awesome, separate sitting, dining and bedroom, and a private hot tub on the veranda. If you want to splurge on your next cruise, consider a Celebrity or Royal Suite, the perks almost make up for the additional cost. We usually had breakfast in the Buffet and dinner most nights in Luminae. The food in Luminae was great, hot dishes were always piping hot, and cold dished nicely chilled. It has a separate menu, but you can also order from the Main Dining Room menu. We also had a couple of dinners in the Olympic, (hi-end table side service), which was delicious, and dinner in Qsine, incredible small plates, "Sushi Lollipops",
Couldn't be better. Separate dining and sitting area, and separate bedroom, with access to a large veranda with a private hot tub. Great service from our butler and cabin attendant, (Sebastian & Michael).
Did our own thing. Took the tram to Mount Roberts, hiked the trails, then took the bus to Mendelhall Glacier, saw lots of eagles and salmon, no bears. Good trip, low key
Walked around town in the rain, then took the White Pass & Yukon Railroad train to the top of the pass. Good trip, but I kept thinking that men had to carry 2000 pounds of supplies up this trail before they were allowed into the Yukon to look for gold. Incredible!
Stayed 1 night before the cruise, not much to do, had a good dinner at Ray's, ok hotel, (Sauerdough Lodging)
