This was our first Uniworld and riverboat cruise. We are not big fans of cruises, but this was suggested by our travel agent - so we decided to give it a try. We flew into CDG and spent the night - taking the train down to Bordeaux the next day. We allowed ourselves a full day and overnight in Bordeaux. This help any travel lag and made sure we had plenty of cushion in case anything went wrong. Went to the boat around 1:00pm and were met at the curb by Uniworld personnel - they took our bags. we in processed, and our bags were in our stateroom by 2:00 - a great meal and refreshments were provided.
Everything about the ship and cruise was first class, and there were never any surprises. An excellent cruise director kept everyone informed and staff was always available. The excursions were well organized and never crowded or rushed. The guides were well informed and all spoke excellent English. Meals were always an experience - starting with a presentation from the Sommelier on the wines of the evening. There were plenty of choices and any requests were cheerfully accommodated. We were going to take the train to London after disembarking in Bordeaux. They arranged a cab for us, our bags were loaded, and we made our train with plenty of time. And just like the book says - we didn't owe a cent upon departure.
A fabulous experience - we are already looking to do it again.
It was great! Everything you could want was there. Very efficient use of space - had plenty of room for everything and even bag storage. Luxurious bed. Very quiet.
