We have just returned from our third cruise on the NCL Jade. The transfer from the airport to the ship was a nightmare. We were marched in a column, half a mile long, to the coach car park. We had to unload our own luggage off the coach at the port. Check-in by NCL was prompt and efficient. We usually have a balcony cabin but opted for an ocean view, what a mistake. The bed had a folded bed above it, making it impossible to stand upright, and we had to crawl into bed. The bed was the most uncomfortable bed ever.
Entertainment was mediocre, sound levels in the theatre seemed excessive, the Elements were the highlight of showtime, and Twice as Nice in the Medusa Lounge were brilliant. My biggest moan was that people were allowed into the theatre during the performance, the doors should be closed prior to the show commencing.
The restaurants were clean and tidy but the food in the buffet, although varied, was not of the high standard we have experienced in previous cruises. 30-45 minutes standing time to enter the main restaurants is not acceptable.
Alberto our cabin steward was excellent, the cabin was always clean and to the highest standard. We enjoyed the towel animals. However the bed was extremely uncomfortable, soft with dips in the middle. The pull down bed made it impossible to stand upright and had to crawl into bed. Due to a pull-out bed there was no space for the suitcases.
Dubrovnik
Took a taxi to the old town, very beautiful, with interesting buildings and shops.
Visited the grand bazar, I am sure the shop keepers would do more trade if they did not hassle the visitors.
The old cobbled streets of Split, were populated with lovely shops, cafes and restaurants. There were several old buildings to explore. In retrospect a guided tour would have been useful.
Venice was beautiful, the bridges and gondolas, St Marks Square, were everything I thought they would be. The only negative is that it is very expensive.
