Just returned from a wonderful cruise on Britannia. Very concerned before the holiday as there were so many negative reviews for the ship and having previously cruised several times with NCL's freestyle relaxed, please yourself, approach we were concerned that P&O might be over-stuffy for us. We need not have worried and we cannot understand why people find so much to moan about.
As on all cruises we have been on, passengers could make their holiday suit their needs, partaking of as many or as few entertainments that they wish, dining in different restaurants as they wish and being as formal and dressed up as they wished....or not. On the last point we are not fans of formal nights and worried that we might be confined to our cabin on formal nights. Again, we need not have worried as we could go to the excellent buffet and relaxed bar, leaving the many that relish the formal dress up nights to enjoy themselves. We have decided that cruising provides an ideal pick-a-mix holiday with as many variations as there are passengers on the ship. It seemed to us that the people complaining the most were previous P&O passengers.
And the food was wonderful throughout. We found the Horizon buffet excellent with different 'themes' each night, and plenty of choice, we never had the cold meals or bad service that others have complained about.
Balcony cabin, size and facilities as expected. Like the walk-in wardrobe layout as it creates extra space for luggage storage.
Strolled along the quay side and large square, excellent lunch at one of restaurants in square.
Next time we will get taxi to further points.
Lovely town for independent visit. Easy to follow coloured lines on pavement for different destinations, lovely Cathedral.
Lovely town for independent visit. We had a catamaran trip round bay, and ships in harbour and a lovely lunch.
Went to old town and fish market, would have wandered further except it started to our with rain so we stopped in cafe instead.
Smooth car park operation.
