My husband and I had a wonderful cruise on the Getaway. This was our 6th NCL cruise and we were very anxious to sail on the Getaway having sailed on the Breakaway two years ago. We spent three days in Miami enjoying the sights and then boarded the Getaway around noon on Saturday. The embarkation process was very efficient and only took about 40 minutes. We went to Taste to enjoy a nice, quiet lunch and then checked out our cabin. We met our cabin attendant, Wiweik, who was very attentive and friendly and made us feel welcome. We saw her on a daily basis, so I cannot understand cruisers who didn't interact with their attendants for days. Some people are just constant complainers and look for inefficiencies or things they are not happy about, instead of realizing how fortunate they are to be sailing on such a gorgeous ship, and taken care of by the friendly and efficient staff. We have been on over 30 cruises and have never had a bad experience and really, NCL is an excellent cruise line with spectacular ships.

We didn't eat at any of the specialty restaurants this time and found the main dining room, the Tropicana, to be very elegant and beautiful, with excellent service by the staff. The food was delicious as well, with numerous choices. If you go home hungry and unhappy about the food on this cruise, nothing will please you. Everything was very fresh and beautifully presented. For breakfast and lunch, we went to the buffet, which of course, was very busy at times, but there was never any problem getting our food and finding a table. Again, numerous choices - too much in fact, and most delicious. We loved the evening crepe station and often went to the buffet for our evening dessert. There were so many restaurants and different treats and variety of dishes, we unfortunately couldn't get to them all.

The gym was great. We never had any trouble getting a cardio machine. There were lots available early in the morning but it did get busy later on, around 8:00. There is a limit of 30 minutes on the machines, so there was no problem in getting a machine if you waited a few minutes. Then, there were several hours during the day when there were only one or two people. The machines were excellent and very sturdy. The weight room didn't have an ocean view, but the cardio room did.
