Friday, January 16 - We had a late flight from Phoenix to Fort Lauderdale. We spent the night at the Marriott - Fort Lauderdale Plantation. Don't stay here unless you like to sleep on a rock hard bed. I have never had a more bad night of sleep in my life. We rented a mini-van from Dollar one way from FLL to MIA.

Saturday - Our friend T&E met us at the hotel. We left the hotel and drove to MIA where we picked up our other friend B&A. We found a Wal-Mart near the airport to load up on water bottles and soda. HINT: Carnival allows you to carry-on 1 case of soda per person. This saved us a tremendous amount of money. The embarkation process was VERY simple and quick at this port. Granted we had VIP check-in because of our suite but it still went quickly for our friends who did not have VIP check-in. We were on the ship by 1:45. The category 11 suite is AWESOME. The room is 100 sq.ft. larger than the regular balcony room, has additional storage, a dressing room, a larger bathroom with dual vanities and a whirlpool bath tub, made by "Duscholux". We had dinner in the Golden Dining room at 8:15. Unfortunately, the wait staff on this cruise was about the worst wait staff I have had on my 5 cruises with Carnival. They did their jobs but they did not "Exceed our Expectations". The food in the dining room was plentiful and good.

Sunday - We had a relaxing day at sea. We all mostly relaxed and wandered around the ship. It was a cloudy and rainy day and was not a good day to lay-out by the pool. We played a few games in the casino and had a great time. The casino staff was friendly as usual. The boy's favorite dealer was Gina. She was cute and had a great sense of humor. After a while in the casino we decided to head back to our suite for a game of Catch Phrase prior to the NFC Championship Game. Which my Cardinal's won by the way! Carnival has changed their choice of words for "Formal Night" it is now called "Elegant Night" we chose to still dress up. We don't get to do it very often and our wives love the pictures. This evening there was lobster and prime rib on the menu. I had 3 lobster tails and an 8oz slice of prime-rib. After dinner we again played a few games in the casino.
