Picked this cruise because of the ports of call, but found the cruise company to be poor. The food on board was bland, over cooked and lacking in any quality. We visited Spain, France, Italy, Greece and Turkey and non of the meals were authentic to the place we visited. The wine on board was poor low grade wine and over priced while again traveling through wine counties, never had any "casa" wine on board. We ate lunch each in the city we visited and had house wine with lunch and was never disappointed and highest we ever spent was about $20 USD.

The rooms were not provide with ice or any means of getting or have ice in the room. The refrigerator was small and filled with the cash bar drinks, leaving no room for our things, had to have the drinks removed but they had to stay in the room occupying space. No laundry facilities on board except ship laundry with cost more than the cost of the item being laundered, sock -$3, shirt -$6, and so on. Literature received from Celebrity said we needed a Visa to get in to Turkey but no one at check in know anything about a visa and said it was not needed, no announcement in disembarking saying a visa was required - Turkey requires a Visa, I had it but was disturbed that the staff had no clue about a visa.

We elected to most tours on our own. The ship however never stopped at the city being advertised but at a close port requiring transportation to the city. The cost of this transportation was to costly. We found after a few days the means of catching locale public transportation at about 10% of the ships cost. But some of the ports were in the shipping yards making it impossible to catch local transportation, with their bus service costing $16 per person while local transportation was $4 or $5.

Port Reviews

Malta (Valletta)

Did a walking tour of the city and ports. Ship docked at the city and no need for transportation. Enjoyed have entire day to explore and see the city.

Marseille

Payed $16 per person to take a bus into Marseilles and then toured on our own. Ported in a shipping port requiring transportation through the port just to get to civilization, the cruise company has you at their advantage, if you what to do any thing you pay them, 3 to 4 time the cost of transportation. Marseilles was nice and easy to walk around in and fine the attraction points. Had a nice street lunch with wine and blow the stay away when we left a $5 tip.

Kusadasi

We elected to just visit Kusadasi as it was at the port and we could walk to it from the ship. Visited the market place and bought a Turkish silk rug, beautiful but expensive. But this is why we travel to find new and beautiful things not to spend money and time on getting to the place which we have already paid for with the cruise.

Athens (Piraeus)

Caught the city bus at the terminal and it took us to 3 blocks of the Acropolis site. Cost of bus 4 EU per person for all transportation the entire day. To many people but enjoyed the ruins.
