Selected this cruise (8 day Southern - Aruba, Curacao and back to Grand Turk) not for the islands but for the sea days. Overall Sunshine delivered on our primary goal - REST - but fell a little short on a few fronts.
Embarkation: Easy transfer with Carnival (MEARS busses) from Orlando Int'l to the port. We were on the second bus departing and the driver was entertaining which kicked of the cruise on the right foot. Easy embarkation process (helped that we had priority boarding due to our cabin category). Whole process took about 15 minutes.
Cabin: Ocean Suite room provided plenty of space for the two of us and more closet space than we could use. Equipped with refrigerator (which our cabin steward Gede gladly removed the contents so we could use it for our pre-ordered water). Whoever designed the bathroom should be made to use it in their own home. While not a particular large person, there is no space between the toilet and the bathtub. So if you're of average height, be prepared to ride the toilet side-saddle for a week. The clearance in the bathtub/shower is approx 6"1". Again, tall people beware. There's a nice vanity outside the bathroom which comes in handy. The balcony had four chairs and plenty of space. As we are room hermits, we got plenty of use of the balcony which made the higher cost well worth the added expense.
Large, quiet location (mid-ship away from the elevators). Poor bathroom unfortunately otherwise would rank it above average. Lots of storage space, separate vanity area and a refrigerator.
Not a lot to do outside of water activities. Shopping at the port is fair.
Great walking port.
Dock is very convenient to the main shopping attractions. Best German restaurant in the Caribbean (check to make sure they are open).
