This was our second Viking River Cruise. Our first, Rhine Getaway (Amsterdam to Basel) was wonderful, but just too short! So we thoroughly enjoyed this 15 day cruise from Budapest to Amsterdam. We booked everything through Viking and were very pleased with the flight and transportation to the Marriott Hotel on the riverfront in Budapest. (Pest). Lovely hotel with excellent food, river views from our room, and a pleasant and very helpful staff.

Viking ships are beautiful, the excursions are excellent, dining is delightful with new, interesting, well-travelled friends every meal! We learned so much from the personal stories of the top-notch local guides in city centers, cathedrals, castles, ancient ruins, concert venues, historical sites, bar hops...yes!... and countryside trips! And did I mention from our program director, Carl!! He also took fabulous photos of the day to be viewed in the bar at night. The piano bar was fun after dinner and there is a small dance floor! We were also entertained by fabulous local musical groups, glass blowers, or maybe a slide show. Or visit with other travelers, or go out on deck and enjoy the evening cruise after a busy day of sightseeing.

Each day there is an included tour, followed by free time in the city, an optional tour, or cruising the river after lunch. Read more
