Viking Cruises was able to successfully transfer its culture for customer convenience, exceptional quality food and service, enlightening excursions, ease of access and value for the cruise dollar from its river cruise business to ocean voyages on the Viking Star.
It was most impressive that subtle differences in the service requirements when attending to the needs of 900 travelers versus the river cruise 100 travelers, when detected, were resolved immediately. There appeared to be no arbitrary application of process because that was the way it was planned. When a better way to accomplish the goal of serving the traveler was determined, a change was made. They were learning and applying as the cruise transpired.
The appointment throughout the ship was modern, crisp, comfortable and able to provide solitude if desired while encouraging communal activities...not a lot of "glitz"; just elegance. You couldn't be more comfortable in your own livingroom. The cabins continued with this well thought out spacious and comfortable design. The welcoming, warm, gracious and friendly staff could not have been better. The quality of food in the dining room was that of first rate restaurants... and the exceptional fare and wine pairings in Chef's Table should not be missed.
Spacious, beautifully designed, comfortable. The bathroom was exceptional for any vessel. An unbelievable large and well illuminated shower was a highlight.
