Our 50th anniversary cruise turned out to be twice what we bargained for! Due to low water, we began our marvelous adventure on the immpecable Lofn, instead of the Vidar as planned. We immediately fell in love with our Program Director Henrietta, and hope Viking knows what a treasure they have in her, and Thomas our charming Concierge. All was smooth sailing, breathtaking scenery and aweinspiring excursions, even when we had to change ships to the equally inviting Vidar, again due to a low water area past Nuremberg. Thankfully Henrietta and Thomas joined us on the Vidar. This unavoidable incident helped us to appreciate how pleasant, efficient and professional both ship's staff and crew were throughout what could have been a disruptive experience. We thank them for that. Would we recommend Viking's Grand European River Cruise? Wholeheartedly. Oh! And, we also recommend 50 years of marriage! Our highest regards to the entire Viking Family!

Veranda Stateroom

Cabin B

Although I was told by friends to expect a tiny room I found this not to be the case. The veranda off our room seemed to extend the space beyond the river! The room was always clean and refreshed when we returned from meals or excursions. Two very minor issues were what we lovingly referred to as the "thunder flushers" and the "pancake pillows". I received foam pillows, upon request, and our exhaustion from each exhilarating day tuned out the other.
