This was our first cruise. We learned the do's and don'ts along the way. The first thing that struck us was how beautiful the celebrity equinox is, inside and out. there were 6 glass elevators so we never waited more than a minute for one to arrive. There was usually an immediate 'hello' from fellow 'lifters' it was so friendly everywhere. From morning to night we could eat the most wonderful food in either an international buffet or in a classy dining room. Our stateside cabin was kept immaculate by Harry. We spent a wonderful 12 days in that cabin. We had a balcony with free view and it was wonderful to wake up to the sight of a charming harbour in 11 different countries. During our voyage we kept forgetting we were at sea! Our cabin was 7th deck, midship. Steady as a rock! We were amazed at the choice of activities on board from morning to evening! We had fabulous weather but lazing around the pools all day seemed a waste of time since we could either visit the beautiful towns or try out all the activities on board that day. The excursion to Rome and the Vatican City including a lunch, a walking tour and the visit to the Sistine Chapel and the frescoes by Michelangelo (was on my bucket list!) was so well organised and well worth the price. Leaving and entering the ship was made easy by the cheerful and professional staff. They were all there awaiting our return to ship offering us ice-cold towels and lovely refreshing drinks! Brilliant! Excursions are definitely the best way to visit the sights. Just check if there are parts where its difficult to walk. Melene, our beautiful waitress in the Silhouette Dining Room, was our saviour when it came to making choices. She explained every dish on the menu as if she had cooked it herself. Her choice was always our choice and it was always delicious. Vladimir, our Sommelier delighted us every evening with wine choices and he was always very interested in our opinion. The ships dancers were better than any ive ever seen. Their version of Cirque du Soleil was amazing. The twice nightly shows were excellent too. We were sad to leave this wonderful ship and its crew. But our memories will last a lifetime. Thank you Celebrity Cruises and to all the crew of the Equinox.
Excellent! Room enough in the bathroom for a nice shower twice a day. Great bed. So comfortable. Good storage and plenty room under the bed for suitcases. Romantic balcony with wooden deck and frosted glass either side. Nice big tv screen and plenty films on demand. Our cabin was cleaned and refreshed twice daily by the cheerful and helpful Harry.
We intended to use the HOHO bus but it was always full. If we had waited until after 2 pm we couldve got on much easier. We took the local bus though and that got us from A to B but we missed having the commentary about where we were.
we did the walkabout as the ship was docked practically in the city centre.
Old Nice and modern Nice was well wort a visit and a HOHO bus was a good way of visiting the sights.
Livorno was beautiful and very well looked after. We didnt go to Florence as we holidayed there once before.
Our first sight of a Greek Island. It was very nice. We visited the windmills and walked around the shops.
Once again, we wish we had booked the excursion offered by Celebrity. We thought the HOHO bus was a rip-off. We were stuck in traffic most of the time and then when we got out of the traffic jams the driver drove too fast so we couldnt take pictures.
I say again: The Celebrity excursion would have been the best way to visit this beautiful place. We didnt get further than the markets and the shops. Next time better.
Perfect day touring around on our own. Brilliant hotel called ERBOY. Only 45 euros for the room. Roomy, spotless, free wifi and internet, breakfast included, roof terrace for drinks and their sister hotel around the corner has a roof restaurant with excellent food and wines. The Grand Bazaar is roomy and easy to walk around and the Spice markets are a must. Beautiful city.
