I have been delaying writing this as I thought long and hard about what I wanted to say. This was our 5th cruise overall, and our first on Carnival. To be honest, we were a bit leary about taking this cruise as prior to this one we had only cruised Princess. However, we were looking for an economical vacation and we live near Charleston, so we thought we would give it a try. I had also spoken with others who had taken this cruise and they all had positive things to say about it, and as it has been said many times, a vacation is what you make of it. There were 4 of us traveling, myself, my husband and our 2 teenage sons.

Charleston port: What can say, it is as bad as everyone says. My advice, go early. We live just a few miles from the port and were dropped off by a family member. It took us much longer to get through the line to get dropped off then it did to get to port. It wasn't until we got to the end of the line that we were told that we could have entered another way and avoided the line that was meant for those who were parking. This is also after we had stated to the people when entering the port that we were only being dropped off.

Cabin: We had 2: an inside and an ocean view. They were adequate. My 2 big complaints, other than the lack of balcony staterooms, was the location of the light switches on the headboards. On several occasions while asleep I accidently turned the cabin lights on, much to the dismay of myself and my husband. The other complaint was that the cabins smelled musty. Our cabin steward had gotten hurt on embarkation day and we did not see him for a good part of the cruise. Those who were taking care of his cabins were reluctant to introduce themselves to us or even tell us what was going on.
