We were impressed with the cleanliness of the ship, its size and the many different venues. Plenty to do on board. 3,600 passengers but didn't feel crowded. Never had trouble getting pool loungers. The cantilevered hot tubs in Solarium were awesome. Chops great as always, but cover charge keeps creeping up. Starting to become a questionable expense. MDR good, Windjammer not so much. Vintages five course dinner/wine pairing was pricey but a good experience. They give you much more wine than advertised (the two-ounce pours were more like four, the five-ounce main course pour was about seven and they added three other "treats" with wine so all-in-all well over a bottle of wine per person). It's wise to not have anything to drink beforehand in order to fully enjoy the evening.

The shows were all high quality with the exception of Saturday Night Fever. A technical glitch five minutes in caused them to have to re-start. More than that, forcing the show into an eighty minute run time means songs are prominent at the expense of story. Ice show was outstanding. Cruise demographic decidedly older. I would guess only a few hundred people were under 50. We felt like youngsters at 58. We enjoyed every port, meeting relatives in Boston and Portland, renting cars in St. John and Halifax and taking a trolley tour in Bar Harbor. Bay of Fundy scenic trail had several good hikes. The drive to Lunenburg in N.S. well worth it. Such a pretty town.

Fall foliage hasn't quite gotten there yet but we pretty much knew that would be the case when we booked. Lobster, lobster, lobster day after day but so fresh and good we were happy to have it. Customs and Immigration was disjointed and, from a security standpoint, inadequate. We spent 1 1/2 hours in line before disembarking in Boston for an immigration check, but didn't clear customs with our bags until end of cruise in Bayonne. Someone wanting to bring bad things into the US from Canada could have a field day with that set-up. Bottom line, we had a great cruise punctuated by a spectacular sunset at sea in the final night. We've already re-booked for next year!

Cabin Review

Interior Stateroom

Cabin K

Very clean interior cabin. Front starboard. Economical, functional, two staircases up to the Solarium and pools. Full-sized king bed; no rounded corners at bottom. Plenty of storage space. Cabin attendant, George, struck a good balance of taking care of our needs while giving us plenty of privacy.

Port Reviews

Portland (Maine)

Met relatives for a lighthouse tour and lobster lunch. A beautiful day.

Saint John (New Brunswick)

Rented a car and drove to St. Martin caves and on to the Bay of Fundy Trail. It was beautiful and exciting to see the tidal changes.

Halifax

Rented a car and went to Peggy's Cove, then on to Lunenburg to walk the twon and have lunch. It was a beautiful day.

Boston

Met relatives to enjoy a duck boat tour then walk through and lunch at Quincy Market. Gorgeous late summer day.

Bayonne (Cape Liberty)

Road construction near the port set our embarkation back a bit, but all-in-all a simple and easy process.
